We welcome day visitors and also have accommodation available for overnight stays. There is a network of tracks allowing access to most parts of the island, including extensive views: see further down the page for more details and a track map.

The island has accommodation for groups and individuals who are:

- Part of an educational facility
- Involved in the island’s restoration work
- Contracting to work on infrastructure or other projects
- Involved in scientific research
- Individuals seeking a back-country holiday experience

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING FOR YOUR STAY
- Please bring all food requirements as there is no shop on the island.
- Please bring your own linen as only pillows and covers are provided.
- Accommodation is bunk and bed style.
- There is access to the fully equipped main lodge with a kitchen.
- There is limited water supply for short showers.
- Please arrange your own preferred transport to and from Motu Kaikoura.
- Barbecue is available.
- Please leave cabins clean and tidy prior to departure
ACCOMMODATION RATES
- Under 5: free
- 15 years old and under: $20 per person per night
- 16 years old and older: $40 per person per night.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
- Cancellation one month in advance will generate a refund less 10% for handling fees.
- Cancellation 10 days or less prior to your booking will not be refunded.
- No refunds on early departure.
- Damages, breakages, and accommodations left in an unreasonable state will be charged accordingly.
- Credit cards may be charged in accordance with cancellation/bookings policy and held as a bond against damages.

The Island’s Track Network
The island has a system of tracks open to the public as shown on the map below. If you are not used to walking far we suggest that you start out from the wharf and follow the road, turning back when you feel the need. A bit more adventurous and you might add the Niho Taniwha Loop. Ridge and Overlook Tracks follow along the spine of the island and are easy to follow. Be warned that the island is quite rugged and most of the remaining tracks can be challenging while the distances might be deceptive.
